Leigh Collins Ensemble
Leigh Collins Ensemble
Leigh Collins is a guitarist and composer whose music is characterised by his thoughtful approach to melody and harmony, portrayed through a refined touch on the instrument that reflects his love of classic electric guitar tones. Based on the Mornington Peninsula, Leigh’s dedication to the instrument has seen him achieve a Masters of Music from The University of Melbourne. Leigh has had the opportunity to accompany singer-songwriter Harrison Storm as well as perform at The Melbourne International Jazz Festival in 2018 as a member of Prickly Pear. Leigh's debut album, (due for release in 2019), “Here’s Why”, recorded live at Sing Sing East alongside Lawson Kennard (bass) and Daniel McKoy (drums). The album consists of original instrumental compositions drawing inspiration from jazz harmony and folk melodies, underpinned by blues articulations and phrasing. Leigh is available to perform as part of a duo (guitar, bass) or trio (guitar, bass, drums) and can tailor the material to suit your event. The group's repertoire includes jazz standards, arrangements of soul and funk classics as well as suitable original material.
