Johnny is a proud Waanyi Garawa/Wakkawakka man – born in Mt Elisa in the late 1960s, he is a highly successful visual artist and an accomplished Yidiki player who toured Australia with his band in the late 1980s before establishing himself as a proficient visual artist and cultural performer in Sydney.

Johnny is an acclaimed and highly proficient and experienced Yidiki (didgeridoo) player with a great tonal range and depth. A master of the tricky technique of circular breathing, Johnny is renowned for his long notes and vibrations. Johnny learnt Yidiki as a young man from his uncles and has travelled around Australia performing the Yidiki with bands and musicians and for a corporate and significant event.
