Weaving Workshop: Grass & Possum Fur Cuffs

Weaving Workshop: Grass & Possum Fur Cuffs

USD 0.00

Join us for a hands-on cultural weaving experience led by Samala (MumRed), where you’ll learn to create traditional woven cuffs using native grasses and ethically sourced possum fur. This workshop draws on ancestral techniques passed down through generations of First Nations women and re imagines them into wearable, contemporary pieces.

Over the course of the session, participants will be guided through:

  • Harvesting and preparing natural grasses

  • Weaving and binding techniques used in traditional adornment

  • Incorporating possum fur as a cultural and textural element

  • Finishing a pair of hand crafted cuffs to take home

This is more than just a creative session — it’s a space to slow down, share stories, and honour the deep legacy of First Nations women’s cultural practice. No prior weaving experience is needed; all materials are provided.
