Guillem Camós for 'Mic Check' - Interview

This week we chat with vocalist and guitarist Guillem “Will” Camós about all things music!

What advice would you give to aspiring artists looking to break out?

Don’t give up and keep working always. Sometimes you will play for 4 people in a venue or you will release a new song and will have only 76 views - keep creating and playing to always improve and be better.

“…I toured for the first time in Europe…in many different cities…Paris, London, Brussels, Madrid, Barcelona, Girona, Perpignan…”

How do you approach your creative process, from ideation to completion?

I don’t try to sit in my studio and create something. I prefer to be playing just for fun and see if I come up with something new and then develop the idea.

How do you balance the creative and business sides of the performance industry, and what strategies have worked best for you?

It’s not easy, because nowadays you have to it all. You have to be the manager, producer, record label, tour agency, musician, video recorder, community manager… The best you can do is trying to learn as much as you can from all the areas.

Can you tell us about a collaboration or project that you've worked on that was particularly memorable or influential?

A couple years ago I recorded the guitar for a Barcelona Artist’s album, I learned a lot about being a session musician by exploring new sounds and being out of my comfort zone, playing new music.

Can you tell us a bit about your performance background and how you got started in the industry?

I started to play the guitar when I was 9 years old, and at 13 I started to play gigs in festivals and venues with my first band. The rest history - haha!

What has been your biggest career highlight so far, and why was it significant for you?

When I toured for the first time in Europe with my band presenting our debut album in many different cities as Paris, London, Brussels, Madrid, Barcelona, Girona, Perpignan…Can you talk about a project or album that you're currently working on and what we can expect from it?

I’m working on a new EP that I started in 2021. Right now is being mixed and I hope to release it this 2023.
